Juan Carlos Burgos
Bio

Juan Carlos is passionate about antitrust and regulatory issues.

With his advice, clients benefit from invaluable experience obtained from his participation in challenging pre-merger filing proceedings, particularly involving regulated sectors and industries, as well as cartel and dominance investigations.

Juan Carlos frequently advises and represents telecommunications, financial and pharmaceutical companies. In addition, he frequently works with our Energy team on competition issues associated with the electricity and hydrocarbons markets, as well as with Administrative Litigation team in amparo proceedings where competition matters are addressed.

In addition, he offers specialized compliance and integrity advice to our clients.

Juan Carlos actively participates in the academic sector and in competition advocacy matters, where he has several publications in competition and regulatory matters, as well as participating in several forums of attorney bars and associations.

He graduated with honors from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM) (2009) and has an LL.M. degree from Columbia Law School under a Fulbright – García Robles Scholarship (2011).

Before joining us, Juan Carlos was a special legal advisor to the former Mexican competition authority and also worked at other prestigious law firms in Mexico. In addition, he worked as an International Associate in the competition group of Uría Menéndez Abogados, in their Madrid and Brussels offices (2013-2014).

He has been named by Chambers and Partners as an “Up and Coming” partner in competition, a “Next Generation Partner” by The Legal 500 in the same practice area, part of the elite firm team in competition by specialized publication Global Competition Review, and a recommended lawyer in competition by Who’s Who Legal.
