Humberto Pérez-Rocha Ituarte
Bio

Humberto plays a major role in the Firm’s representation of commercial banks and other financial institutions, strategic investors and corporations on a range of financing transactions including syndicated loans, acquisition financings, leveraged buyouts, bridge loans, asset-based loans, project financings, distressed financings and strategic workouts. He has a wide experience in corporate transactions and related regulatory matters involving banks, pension funds, insurance and reinsurance companies.

He also actively participates in infrastructure transactions in Mexico, advising private entities participating in public bids and in the structuring and financing of infrastructure projects, such as toll roads, airports and ports.

Humberto is also a trusted adviser to public and private acquirers and target companies, private equity firms, and investment banks in a variety of mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, restructurings, and other corporate matters.

He has built up a particular experience in transactions in the insurance industry, having advised on some of the largest and most significant insurance transactions over the past five years.

He is member of the board of directors and chairman of the audit committee of an insurance company and also serves on the board of directors of a banking institution and a securities broker. He has gained unique experience when seconded as general counsel to the largest insurance company in Mexico, reporting directly to Chief legal officer of the controlling shareholder in the U.S.

Humberto considers pro bono activities an essential part of being a lawyer and is one of the driving forces behind the Firm’s efforts in this area. He is member of Galicia´s Pro Bono Committee and member of the governing body of Centro Mexicano Pro Bono and Appleseed Mexico Mexican clearing Houses, as well as other non-profit organizations. He is also member of the Galicia’s Sustainability Committee.

He obtained his Master’s degree from Universidad Iberoamericana (1994) and worked as a foreign associate in the New York office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher.
