Nadia co-heads the Labor & Employment practice in Galicia, which she initiated when she joined the firm as Counsel in September 2018, after working for several leading national law firms in Mexico.
During her 20+ year career, she has advised in-house attorneys and HR professionals on workplace and human capital issues, guiding national and international employers to optimize labor and employment conditions to ensure the future success of their operations.
Her focus has always been on helping foreign companies looking to establish operations in Mexico. By simplifying the understanding of complex Mexican labor laws, she offers strategic and business-oriented solutions to their cross-border employment needs.
Nadia specializes in transactional employment due dligence, keeping workplace issues from derailing deals by identifying labor and employment risks and equipping clients with a sound strategy for workforce restructuring.
Her expertise includes day-to-day advice to companies, including drafting of employment agreements and independent contractor agreements, subcontracting of work (outsourcing), executive compensation and benefits, termination of employment (both individual and large-scale redundancies), employee transfers, workplace investigations, harassment and discrimination issues, development and implementation of employee handbooks and policies, government inspection visits, global mobility and expatriate programs, workplace training programs, industrial relations and collective bargaining, social security and fundamental labor rights.
She is a member of the ESG practice of the firm.
She received an LL.M. from Columbia University in New York (2013), and earned her Law degree from Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (1998). She also has postgraduate studies in Labor Law from Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León (2000) and Business Law from Universidad Regiomontana (2007).
Nadia is active in the Barra Mexicana Colegio de Abogados, Nuevo León, where she chairs the Employment Law Committee. She is Subdirector of the Labor Committee of the National Council of the Maquiladora and Export Manufacturing Industry (INDEX). Recently, she has been appointed as member of the Expert Group of the Labor, Social Security and Human Resources Commission of the Mexican Confederation of Industrial Chambers (CONCAMIN).
Since 2016, Chambers & Partners has included Nadia in its Labor ranking for Mexico, being classified as Band 4 at national level and as Band 2 at the local level in Monterrey.She has also been recognized by Who’s Who Legal as a “Thought Leader” in the Labor practice. Recently, International Employment Lawyer designated her as “Women Leader”, being the only Mexican lawyer to be part of said publication.
She has been employment law professor at Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey and at the Facultad Libre de Derecho de Monterrey.
Nadia frequently participates as speaker and moderator in events of local and international organizations.
She has always advocated for gender equality and the empowerment of women. Nadia is member of the Galicia’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee.
