Eduardo Espinosa
Bio

 

Eduardo specializes in tax law. With his advice, clients benefit from invaluable experience obtained from his participation in several national and cross-border transactions in different sectors and industries.

Eduardo has provided tax advisory services to foreign and Mexican pensions funds, investment funds, private equity funds, financial institutions, sovereign funds, nonprofit organizations, corporations and individuals regarding, among others, day-to-day operations, mergers and acquisitions (including acquisition or sale of assets, real estate and intangibles) tax restructures, capital markets, lending and maquila tax regimes. Likewise, he has rendered tax advisory services to foreign and Mexican clients dedicated to novel models and digital platforms in the crypto, financial and gambling sectors. In addition, he has advised to different clients for the compliance and due control of companies to prevent and mitigate tax/criminal liabilities. As well, Eduardo has participated on private investigations associated to tax felonies and has collaborated with criminal lawyers for the defense preparation related to tax crimes.

Before joining Galicia, Eduardo was a senior associate of another important Mexican law firm for more than six years, and previously, he worked as a criminal lawyer in a boutique firm and in the Mexican Federal General Attorney (Procuraduría General de la República), within the Tax and Financial Crimes Unit.

He obtained with honors his law degree in the Escuela Libre de Derecho (2012). Then, he obtained with honors his master degree in Tax Law at the Universidad Panamericana (2018). Eduardo has been a professor of different tax law and criminal law courses for graduate and postgraduate degrees at the Escuela Libre de Derecho, ITAM and ITESM.
